Candidate Communication 101: Recruiters, Talk Like Real Humans

Recruiters, stop being weird.

If you want to know if a candidate is still in — just ask them.

Not: “Hey, circling back. Concerned you’re okay…”

Erm... You’re not their therapist. You’re asking if they want the job.

Say it like a functioning adult:

“Haven’t heard from you. If you’re still interested, please drop me a quick text back.

If not, no probs, I’ll go ahead and withdraw you.”

Boom. Done. No one’s feelings hurt. No Oscar-worthy small talk. No Dr Phil with a pipeline.

We roast candidates for ghosting, but half of you are ghostwriting the most passive-aggressive Hallmark cards instead of just getting to the bloody point.

Being human isn’t just about being nice.

It’s about being honest, cutting the BS, and having the conversation that actually needs to happen.

Recruitment doesn’t need more copy-paste empathy.

It needs more real humans talking to real humans.

This means less “hope you’re well” energy and more “what’s the move?” energy.

Bottom point: If you can’t talk like a human, don’t be surprised when humans stop talking to you.
